If you want the most polished version of this night: start elevated, move somewhere intimate, and save the moodiest room for last. That sequence feels far more Charleston than trying to “complete” a list.

Charleston’s pink Champagne room is unapologetically glamorous — etched mirrors, crystal overhead and pink marble reclaimed from the former library that once stood on this site.

THE ORDER

Make this a Champagne stop. Choose a glass of Brut or Rosé Champagne; if you want something alongside it, the caviar fries are the KALLAN pairing.

KALLAN NOTE

We’d come early and use Camellias as the dressed-up opening drink, not the end of the night. Standard lounge service is first come, first served — reservations are not accepted — so arriving earlier is the smarter move. Then leave the bright pink room behind and head somewhere moodier.

START HERE · SUNSET

Citrus Club

The Dewberry · 334 Meeting Street, 8th Floor

Charleston’s rooftop moment, but make it polished. Citrus Club is the stop for skyline views, breezy resort energy and tropical cocktails that still feel grown-up.

THE ORDER

Go classic here: a mojito or Mai Tai. This is not the place to overthink the menu — the view is part of the drink.

KALLAN NOTE

We’d use Citrus Club as the opening scene, not the whole night. Go before the sky goes dark, have one drink, then leave while it still feels special.

Doar Bros.

Small, intimate and restrained in the best way. This is where we’d go when the actual drink matters as much as the room.

THE ORDER

A cold classic — especially a Vesper — or let the bartender steer you toward one of the modern seasonal builds. Add the brown-butter popcorn immediately.

KALLAN NOTE

Doar Bros. is best when you sit at the bar and treat it like a stop, not dinner. If the rest of the evening is going to get louder, make this the quiet hour first.

Last Saint already earns its place for balanced, inventive cocktails. The real KALLAN move is knowing there is another experience behind it.

THE ORDER

At Last Saint, order from the current list. If you can get into The Annex, skip the menu entirely — there isn’t one. The drinks are built around your tastes.

KALLAN NOTE

The Annex sits behind the yellow door at the back of Last Saint. You buzz in, and the room is tiny — just a handful of barstools and booths. It operates Thursday through Saturday and reservations are the move. This is the stop we’d plan around.

The Cocktail Club

479 King Street · Upstairs

A Charleston standby for creative drinks, low light and an upstairs lounge that feels removed from the King Street sidewalk below.

THE ORDER

The Double Standard if you like heat and freshness; the Ramen Noodle if you want something stranger; or the smoked Elijah Craig Old Fashioned if you’re staying classic.

KALLAN NOTE

Go later, not first. The room makes more sense once the night has some energy. If it is packed inside, check the terrace before giving up on it.

The Gin Joint

Intimate, inventive and serious about the craft without feeling precious. This is the stop for people who want the bartender to be part of the experience.

THE ORDER

Skip straight to Bartender’s Choice: choose two adjectives that match your mood and let the bar build the drink around them. It is the most KALLAN way to order here.

KALLAN NOTE

There are no reservations or call-aheads, and even the bar stools are seated by the host. Go earlier if you want a better shot at slipping in without a wait. After 7 p.m., the room is 21+.
